Summer concerts are the embodiment of the season. Lawn chairs and beach towels cover crisp green grass; shorts, tank tops, and sandals are the clothing items of choice, and popsicles, hotdogs, and rosé abound. At least, this is the case at the summer concerts we attend. Each year, metro-Atlanta concerts abound. Lucky for us, there are a variety of concert series just outside our front doors. From Alpharetta to Woodstock, and of course, even Roswell, there are fantastic summer sounds waiting for you.
Alpharetta’s Avalon has quickly become one of the gems of the town. With ample shopping, ITP meets OTP restaurants, greenspace, salons, a movie theater, and more, Avalon is a family-friendly spot to spend summer nights. This season, they’re also bringing Avalon Nights Live to their offerings. Each Friday evening from April 6th – October 26th, Avalon Nights Live will feature live music in the Plaza. The events start at 6 and continue just until 8 allowing families with young kids and old to shake their tailfeathers. See the upcoming schedule here and make your plans today!
Alpharetta has not one but two amazing summer concert series. The second, Home by Dark, focuses on singer-songwriters looking to captivate audiences and possibly land their big break, too. Past performers have written songs for the likes of Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, and Stevie Nicks. The series has also hosted surprise celebrity musicians like Patty Loveless and Christopher Cross. Described as “Nashville meets L.A. meets Atlanta, Home by Dark promises to “pierce your hearts” and make you “dance in the aisle.” Sounds like a series we definitely want to sway to.
The 2018 lineup for Roswell Riverside Sounds was announced just recently, and we’re already penciling in dates. This free concert series takes place at Riverside Park near the banks of the Chattahoochee. Held in partnership with Gate City Brewing, attendees can expect local brews from Gate City and bites from Meating Street Barbeque. Of course, you can always pack your own picnic for a little extra fun. The series kicks of May 5th and continues through October 6th. Get the full lineup and prepare to boogie.
Gearing up for its 21st season, the Woodstock Concert Series is back this year. The shows take place in the Park at City Center at the Northside Park Cherokee Amphitheater and are free to the public. All shows start at 7, and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, beach chairs, blankets, and towels to use as seats, or simply enjoy standing and dancing to the tunes. This year’s lineup kicks-off with Swingin’ Medallions, and includes Love and Theft, Departure (a Journey tribute band), and Everclear.
Each of these concert series is conveniently located either near or in Roswell and Woodstock. We can attest to each one’s fun factor, too. Whether you’re looking for a special date night, a family-friendly evening, or a girls’ night out, these concerts will surely fit the bill. Don’t forget to tag us on Facebook or Instagram if you attend. We love hearing from you!
